In his often narrative paintings, Kai Jones (b. 2007) re-imagines Black bodies in fantastical contexts. With his oils, the painter conjures vibrant, alternate realities, where human conflict is examined and questioned. Jones draws on his background in music and poetry, as well as his interest in the social sciences. Working to get his BA from Brown University and BFA from The Rhode Island School of Design, he hopes to inform his paintings with the study of human societies, cultures, and behaviors.
